WA:Motorbike ride raises depression awareness

PERTH, Aug 21 AAP - The devastating and tragic effects of depression are something
Steve Andrews knows all too well.

His mother committed suicide as a result of severe depression after the birth of Mr
Andrews's fourth child.

"At the time, we didn't know she suffered from depression," he told AAP.

"Things came to light later when we saw some of her journals and it became clear what
she had been going through."

Mr Andrews said the tragedy of his mother's death and the deaths of other close friends
made him want to raise awareness about the disease and so, in 2009, he embarked on a solo
motorcycle ride around Australia to bring attention to the issue.

Now, the father of five and grandfather says he is overwhelmed at how much the annual
event has grown.

On Sunday, motorbike enthusiasts from around the country began a week-long journey
from several capital cities to Alice Springs to raise awareness and remove the stigma
associated with depression.

The Black Dog Ride will see about 100 participants from Perth travel 3807 kilometres
to reach Alice Springs while other riders will travel from Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne
and Sydney.

Mr Andrews said depression was the third-largest health problem in Australia, after
heart disease and stroke.

It affects one in five Australians, but many depression sufferers don't seek treatment, he said.

Mr Andrews said it was important to talk about depression so that more people would
seek help as early as possible, especially youths.

The riders are expected to arrive at Lasseters Hotel Casino in Alice Springs on Saturday
for a barbecue lunch, before heading to the Glen Helen Resort at the West MacDonnell Ranges.

All funds raised from the ride will go to the Black Dog Institute to help expand its
community education programs.

The mission of the institute is to advance the understanding, diagnosis and management
of mood disorders by raising clinical, research and education standards.

Readers seeking support and information about suicide prevention can contact Lifeline
on 13 11 14 or SANE Helpline on 1800 18 SANE (7263).

FED:Combet to attend climate forum in Belgium

CANBERRA, April 24 AAP - Federal Climate Change Minister Greg Combet is to attend an
international forum on practical responses for major economies to cut carbon emissions
in fighting climate change.

Mr Combet is scheduled to attend the 10th Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate
(MEF) in Brussels on April 26 and 27.

The meeting would be the first between the major economies since the United Nations
climate change negotiations at Cancun in Mexico last December, he said.

"Countries are focusing on ways to implement the Cancun Agreements, including actions
to curb carbon pollution, improve reporting and to assist vulnerable developing countries
to build resilience to climate impacts," Mr Combet said in a statement on Sunday.

"The MEF is an opportunity to get the world's 20 largest emitters, responsible for
around 80 per cent of global carbon pollution, to discuss the way forward for combating
climate change on a global scale."

MEF membership comprises ministerial representatives from 20 of the world's highest
emitters including the US, China, India, the European Union, South Africa, Brazil and
Indonesia.

Mr Combet said he would also hold discussions with international and European experts
in carbon pricing and trading, as well as with representatives of multinational businesses
with an interest in the Australian government's plans for introducing a price on carbon.

NSW:Burst water main causes traffic chaos

SYDNEY, Aug 26 AAP - A burst water pipe on a main road in Sydney's northwest is causing
major traffic delays.

It's the third burst water pipe in Sydney in the past three days.

One of two southbound lanes at Pennant Hills Road, near Evans Road, in Carlingford,
will remain closed for most of Thursday, following a water main bursting about 6.15am
(AEST), an RTA spokesman told AAP.

"Traffic is heavy in the area," he said.

On Wednesday a cast iron main ruptured beneath Moore Park Road at Paddington, in Sydney's
east, resulting in tens of thousands of litres of water gushing onto the street.

On Tuesday another water pipe burst in the Cross City Tunnel, causing CBD traffic chaos.

Comment is being sought from Sydney Water.

Qld: Farmers welcome decision to put the bite on wild dogs

BRISBANE, April 27 AAP - Queensland farmers have welcomed the state government's decision
to crack down on wild dogs.

Brent Finlay, AgForce sheep and wool president, says he's happy with the government's
decision to appoint a wild dog advisory committee to develop a new strategy.

The government says wild dogs are costing Queensland's economy $33 million a year.

Mr Finlay says the real figure is 10 times that.

"I was at a wild dog meeting at Quilpie, in western Queensland, last Wednesday and
one gentleman there told me that in the last four months he's lost over 800 sheep to wild
dogs, which are starting to flood into the area," he said.

"Where I live in southeast Queensland, people in the area around Warwick, Stanthorpe
and Inglewood, which produces the state's fine and super-fine wool, have lost up to 600
sheep a year to wild dogs."

Premier Anna Bligh - who chaired a cabinet meeting at Highfields, north of Toowoomba
on Monday - said the damage done by wild dogs was an increasingly serious issue for Queensland
graziers, especially for sheep producers.

She said former Agforce chief Peter Kenny had delivered a report on the issue recommending
that the effort, which has been scattered across local government areas, be amalgamated.

Primary Industries Minister Tim Mulherin said wild dogs destroyed native species, spread
disease, attacked farmed animals and diluted dingo genetics.

Ms Bligh said the state would appoint a wild dog advisory committee.

"We will put in place a wild dog management group which will oversee the implementation,"

she said.

"We will put dedicated DPI (Department of Primary Industries) officers and a coordinator
in place and, importantly, we'll be out working with better science and better coordination
across council areas and across the properties that are affected, to get a much better
result for all producers."

Mr Finlay said the make-up of the management group was critical.

"It's critical we get the right people who have an understanding of wild dogs and the
best methods to control them.

"These dogs can be very aggressive and they have very little fear of human beings."

Research has shown wild dogs can travel as far as 1,300km in four months.

Ms Bligh said the wild dog strategy would require strong commitment from local government,
industry, landholders and the community.

Oly: Aussie protester believes action will lead to change

By Charisse Ede

BEIJING, Aug 16 AAP - An Australian woman deported from China for unfurling a Free
Tibet banner in Beijing spent seven years planning her protest action at the Olympic Games.

Nicole Rycroft, a dual Australian-Canadian citizen, arrived home in Vancouver this
morning Australian time after being ejected from China yesterday afternoon.

The 41-year-old was among five activists who climbed on top of the China Central Television
(CCTV) headquarters early yesterday and dropped a banner reading "Free Tibet" in English
and Chinese.

An amateur rockclimber, she abseiled down the building to unfurl the banner over the
top of an Olympics billboard that says: "Beijing 2008".

She and her fellow Students for a Free Tibet (SFFT) activists - a Briton and three
Americans - were arrested about 30 minutes later by Chinese security officials and were
all deported.

Rycroft, a former state and national rower in Australia in the 1990s, said she decided
she would join any protest action in Beijing when the city was awarded the Games in 2001.

"I started to think about how I felt, as a former elite athlete, about how a country
like China, with an appalling human rights record, could get the Games of peace," she
told AAP soon after arriving home.

"I don't know how receptive the Chinese leadership is to that (Free Tibet message)
at the moment, but I felt I needed to do something.

"History shows that over time things do change. I'm under no illusion that there will
be an immediate change in Tibet ... but I hope that the situation and conditions really
improve."

Rycroft said she arrived in Beijing a week ago and she and her fellow activists had
to change their protest plans regularly.

"We arrived knowing what we generally wanted to achieve, and remained flexible," she said.

"We changed our plans to deal with the level of prohibition and security."

Rycroft, who has lived in Canada for 12 years, cycled into Tibet from Nepal in 1995
and said she "witnessed the suppression of Tibetan culture and religion as a result of
China's occupation of Tibet".

She said she hoped to speak with Australian cyclist and pro-Tibet support Cadel Evans
later today.

The Tour de France runner-up left China yesterday and spoke for the first time about
his views on Tibet.

"It's a sad situation and I think similar to what happened with the Australian Aborigines,"

Evans said.

Evans is believed to be on his way to visit the exiled Tibetan Olympic team in Switzerland.

"It's great to have an Olympian being so inspiring and taking a stand," Rycroft said.

"There's not a division between sports and human rights."

Olympic athletes have been advised to keep political statements out of the Games.

Rycroft realises she will no longer be welcome in China, but she says that won't stop
her continuing her campaign for a free Tibet.

Qld: ABC workers to move out of cancer scare office

The ABC says its Brisbane news team will abandon its studios today .. following an
investigation that's blamed the workplace for the high incidence of breast cancer among
female workers.

It says while the independent review couldn't pinpoint the cause of the cancer .. it's
concluded it's related to the office environment.

ABC radio reports other staff will be moved out in coming days.

Experts have spent the past five months conducting an investigation .. after it was
revealed 12 women who worked at the Toowong office in Brisbane's inner-west had been diagnosed
with breast cancer in the past 11 years.

Eight of the women worked in the newsroom .. and most had been there for more than five years.

ABC managing director MARK SCOTT's met with staff today to discuss the findings of
the investigation .. and tell them of the planned relocation.

Earlier this year Mr SCOTT said he wouldn't relocate staff unless the investigation
found evidence of a cancer cluster.

The study's shown women who worked at the office reported breast cancer at a rate 11
times higher than the general working community.

Almost 100 ABC staff members walked off the job in July to demand a relocation.

All female staff working at the Toowong office were immediately offered free mammograms
.. and a free counselling service was made available during the investigation.

Mr SCOTT's today extended that offer to women at other ABC sites around Australia.

Fed: Delay of wage case a stunt: Labor

AAP General News (Australia)

Fed: Delay of wage case a stunt: Labor

CANBERRA, Dec 3 AAP - An attempt to delay the national wage case by the government
was a stunt that undermined its praise of the economy, opposition treasury spokesman Wayne
Swan said today.

The government was trying to say the economy was in a very good condition, while also
attempting to delay the wage case, Mr Swan said.

The federal government wants consideration of the national wage case to be delayed
until after the May Budget when a clearer picture of economic conditions would emerge.

Mr Swan said the government could not talk up the economy on the one hand and then
play down the economic outlook on the other.

"Either the government has confidence in the prospects of the economy or it doesn't,"

he said in a statement.

"It can't have it both ways.

"The truth is, the government is seeking to deny the benefits of economic growth to
those workers in the economy who have so far benefited least."

Mr Swan a delay to the wage case could not be warranted.

He said the government was preparing for major Budget cuts.

"It is the height of arrogance and hypocrisy for the government to seek a freeze the
wages of the lowest paid for a further six months after it has just gone on a $66 billion
pre-election spending spree," he said.

"It is clear the government intends to make everyone pay for its short term poll driven
spending blow out."

IT'S IPO PARTY TIME FOR CELEBRATEEXPRESS KIRKLAND ONLINE STORE HOPES TO RAISE UP TO $40 MILLION.(Business)

CelebrateExpress.com is getting ready to join the IPO party on Wall Street.

The Kirkland online party store, founded as a catalog operation by the husband and wife team of Mike and Jan Jewell in 1994, yesterday filed documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission to raise as much as $40 million in an initial public offering.

CelebrateExpress, formerly BirthdayExpress.com, becomes the fifth Seattle area Internet company to file for an initial public offering in the past 45 days. Last year, 17 companies in the state raised $1.1 billion through IPOs. Other Seattle companies currently waiting in the IPO pipeline include Avenue A, Loudeye Technologies, HomeGrocer.com and Onvia.com.

CelebrateExpress.com, however, is a different kind of e-tailer. That's because it started out selling party supplies for children's birthday parties through a catalog and two Eastside brick-and-mortar retail stores.

The company launched its first Web site in April 1996. Internet sales did not comprise a significant portion of the business until late 1998.

Earlier this month the company opened a 32,000-square-foot distribution center in Greensboro, N.C., to accommodate increased sales from the Web and to cut down on shipping expenses. CelebrateExpress.com also recently added several executives with experience in the technology field. Ed Morin, former president of Bellevue's Northwest Nexus, joined the company as chief technology officer last summer and Vicki Brummond, former marketing manager at Humongous Entertainment, joined as vice president of business development in November.

The company, with about 550,000 customers, had sales of $13.1 million for the fiscal year ended May 31. That compares to sales of $9.5 million for the same period in 1998. The company has lost $4.8 million since it was founded.

Its main business is selling supplies, such as pinatas, costumes, balloons and place settings, for children's birthday parties. But the company plans to broaden its scope this year to include adult parties.

The total party supply category was valued at $11.4 billion last year, according to Party & Paper Retailer.

CelebrateExpress.com employs 222 employees, including 70 party planners.

``By combining our large selection of unique products with extensive party planning advice, we offer consumers a one-stop shopping solution that reduces the amount of stress, time and effort involved in planning an event or celebration,'' the company wrote in its filing.

CelebrateExpress plans to trade on the Nasdaq exchange under the ticker symbol CBXP. Robertson Stephens is the lead underwriter on the deal. Money from the stock sale will be used for sales and marketing and to launch new product categories.

Arch Venture Partners with an 11 percent stake, Advanced Technology Partners with a 7 percent stake and Sigma Partners with a 7 percent stake are the primary backers of the company. Mike and Jan Jewell hold 51 percent of the company's shares.

The company competes against Internet startups such as iParty.com and eParties.com as well as bricks-and-mortar chains such as Party Universe and Party City. Wal-Mart, Walgreen's and Safeway are also listed as competitors.

25,000 California Businesses Applaud Efforts to Let Them Get Back to Work.

The Performance Marketing Association (PMA) offers its resounding support for a referendum to reverse the devastating effects of the recent passage of the California budget trailer bill (ABX1 28).

Rebecca Madigan, executive director of the PMA, said, "We are overjoyed to see a proactive campaign launched that could allow the 25,000 California web-based businesses that PMA represents to get back to business by countering the recently signed nexus tax legislation."

These businesses, known as Affiliate Marketers, make their livings from advertising on their websites. According to the PMA, performance marketing is a thriving and growing Internet technology industry; however, this new law already has choked off start-up companies, venture capitol projects and affiliate marketing websites. The referendum to overturn the nexus tax gives Californians a chance to reestablish the state as the birthplace of Internet technology, preserve current California businesses, and nurture its cutting-edge technology culture. These are real Californians who want to get back to work and bring jobs and investments to the state.

Ms. Madigan stated, "We have said all along this tax will not garner any additional sales tax revenue for the state, but would instead result in an immediate 25%-35% drop in Affiliate Marketers' income, which could translate into the layoff of thousands of people statewide and businesses moving to other states, or perhaps even closing." This referendum effort is a vehicle for Affiliate Marketers to continue to do business in California, which translates to real income for the state as these businesses pay their income tax, employment tax, plus other taxes. This translates to real income to the state, not the illusory gains falsely promised.

"The voters of the state were promised they would be the determining factor in new taxes," said Ms. Madigan. "They were denied that opportunity with this nexus tax, and we are pleased they will now have the opportunity to weigh in on this issue that is a matter of keeping 25,000 California-based businesses up and running."

The Performance Marketing Association (PMA) is the national trade association representing Affiliate Marketers. The not-for-profit trade association was founded in 2008 by the leaders of the performance marketing industry. The PMA gives performance marketers a unified voice to address issues and challenges facing the industry, such as the "nexus tax" proposed in some states.

Weiner admits sending explicit photos, says he won't resign congressman admits sendinglewd photos; won't resign.(Front)

By Michael Barbaro

The New York Times

In an extraordinary reversal, Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York admitted Monday to having inappropriate online exchanges with at least six women and repeatedly lying about his role in sending a sexually suggestive photograph to a young woman over Twitter last month.

After a week of sometimes indignant public denials and insistence that he was the victim of an Internet hacker, a weeping and stammering Weiner, 46, acknowledged at a news conference that he had sent the photo of himself in his underwear to the woman in Seattle.

The seven-term congressman from Brooklyn, who has long aspired to be mayor of New York City, insisted that he had broken no laws and vowed to remain in office, calling the matter an "aberration from which I've learned."

During a 27-minute news conference, the congressman went on to describe a side of his life that he had kept secret from his closest confidants and family members, in which he befriended young female admirers over the Internet and engaged in intimate sexual banter with them.

"Over the past few years, I have engaged in several inappropriate conversations conducted over Twitter, Facebook, email and occasionally on the phone with women I had met online," Weiner said.

Weiner said he had never met in person the women with whom he corresponded and added: "I don't know what I was thinking. This was a destructive thing to do. I'm apologetic for doing it."

But Weiner's political standing appeared in grave danger after his news conference. There was a striking absence of any public expressions of support from his colleagues, and the House Democratic leader, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, called for an ethics investigation into Weiner's conduct.

"I am deeply disappointed and saddened about this situation," she said.

House ethics rules state that members should conduct themselves "at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House."

Weiner's public confession was prompted Monday when Andrew Breitbart, a conservative blogger and critic of the left, followed through on a vow to publish photographs of Weiner that the congressman had sent to a woman online.

As Breitbart began to unveil the photos one by one, from midmorning until early afternoon, Weiner's staff seemed paralyzed, failing to answer questions or challenge the authenticity of the photographs.

One of the pictures showed Weiner, his wedding ring visible, holding up a sign identifying himself to the woman, who had expressed skepticism that she was exchanging messages with the congressman. The most explicit featured Weiner, bare-chested at his home computer, with a row of family photos arranged behind him.

Weiner had gained renown for his devoted and deft use of social media like Twitter and Facebook, cultivating thousands of admiring followers with a near-constant stream of political riffs and punchy one-liners.

In the end, however, it was his reckless approach to those online tools that led to his confession.

At the news conference, he said that the online relationships with the women had begun three years ago and that several of them began after he was married in July to Huma Abedin, a longtime aide to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, in a grand service officiated by former President Bill Clinton.

While he repeatedly emphasized his failings, Weiner stressed that he had not had physical contact with any of the six women and said he believed they were all adults.

"At least to the extent of my knowledge," he said, when pressed about their ages and the tendency toward exaggeration on the Web. At another point, Weiner declared: "I've never had sex outside of my marriage."

He repeatedly apologized to his wife, who, unlike other spouses of misbehaving male politicians, did not appear at his side: "I love my wife very much, and we have no intention of splitting up over this. We have been through a great deal together, and we will - we will weather this. I love her very much, and she loves me."

The congressman said his wife had known about some of his online connections with the women. But it was not until Monday that he told her he had sent the photo to the woman in Seattle.

The news conference was at times a surreal spectacle: the House's most pugilistic and defiant liberal - famed for skewering his rivals in YouTube-ready bursts of indignation - suddenly appearing, on live television, as penitent, teary figure behind a spare wooden podium.

Weiner, a sharp-tongued political street fighter, has emerged as a hero of the left, denouncing Republican attempts to water down the health care overhaul and cut financing to National Public Radio.

But he has long been dogged by questions about his temperament and maturity: Former aides complained that he could be a bully, and the New York tabloids eagerly chronicled his active dating life.

The episode, with its traces of digital deception, echoed the swift political fall of Weiner's fellow House member, Christopher Lee, a New York Republican, who emailed a shirtless photo of himself to a woman he met online. Lee resigned.

David Birdsell, dean of Baruch College's School of Public Affairs in New York City, said it would be difficult for Weiner to argue that his conduct was any less damning. "By the Chris Lee standard, these are offenses that merit resignation," he said.

Even if Weiner remains in office, however, political consultants said his ultimate ambition, to succeed Michael Bloomberg as mayor, has very likely been extinguished.

"There is zero chance today of a Mayor Weiner," said Hank Sheinkopf, a veteran political analyst who has worked on New York City mayoral campaigns for decades. "Mayors don't do these things. It's too much already."

Weiner's ordeal began two Fridays ago, on May 27, at 11:35 p.m.: A Twitter post, containing the photo of the gray boxers, was sent from Weiner's account to that of a college student in Washington state, assuming it would remain private.

He called it "part of a joke" to the woman.

But he soon panicked, went online and tried to delete the photo. It was too late: The image had not been private, after all. It was immediately copied and redistributed across the Internet.

Now powerless to erase an embarrassing image of his own groin from all the all-seeing eyes of the Web, Weiner told his staff that his account had been hacked.

On Sunday, May 29, a spokesman told the news media that "Anthony's accounts were obviously hacked" and that the congressman had asked a lawyer to advise on how to proceed.

But he declined to answer basic questions about the origins of the photo, first in a testy exchange with reporters on Capitol Hill, and then in a series of increasingly fraught interviews with major news outlets.

At one point, Weiner admitted that he could not say with "certitude" whether or not the man in the photo was him.

On Thursday, Weiner declared that he would no longer discuss the matter.

Throughout this period, Weiner misled even those closest to him, telling a handful of longtime advisers what he had told the public - that his Twitter account had been hacked into and that he did not send the explicit photo.

Over the weekend, he hunkered down at his home in Brooklyn, skipping a parade up Manhattan Fifth Avenue in honor of Israel that Weiner, who is Jewish, had enjoyed marching in for years, and had pledged to participate in this year.

By Monday morning, those close to him said, he simply staggered under the weight of the media attention, the impending revelations from Breitbart and his own deceit.

Official Turkmenistan lost confidence in Russian media holding RBC.

ASHGABAT, May 19, 2011(TCA) -- The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan issued a statement for press in connection with the report published by "RBC daily" internet portal on the alleged "problems" associated with the activities of foreign companies in Turkmenistan.

With reference to a certain Institute of Political Analysis (IPA), "RBC daily" writes about the termination of operations of the Russian cellular communication company MTS in the Turkmen market. The report also pours out a flood of baseless opinions ranging from inadequate legislation to "hostility to the Russian business community", and even "pressure from external actors," the Foreign Ministry said.

"These attacks are notable for their absurdity and misstatement of facts. For example, with respect to MTS, the Turkmen side has repeatedly stated that operations of this company in the country were discontinued due to the expiration of the 5-year contract, which was the basic document regulating the work of MTS in Turkmenistan.

With regard to the investment climate, it is well known that the investment climate is favorable in Turkmenistan and complies with all the conditions accepted in international practice. Dozens of first-class foreign companies, including Russian, are successfully operating in the country, and there have been registered 2,362 investment projects worth 45.7 billion U.S. dollars.

The national legislation is being constantly improved; documents on promotion and reciprocal protection of investments have been signed and implemented with many countries; the rights of the parties to contracts have been guaranteed, including through the provision of opportunities for dealing with disputes in both domestic and international arbitrations. That is why Turkmenistan enjoys a strong reputation of a reliable and responsible partner," the Turkmen Foreign Ministry noted.

"If the final product of the so-called "analysis" can still be explained by ordinary incompetence, which is very natural for little-known structures such IPA, the very fact of its publication by RBC media holding that has been working in the information sphere for many years, is an absolute surprise, and, as a consequence, it has significantly reduced the agency's rating."

The Turkmen Foreign Ministry said that such irresponsible reports will not remain without attention and will reflect on the future of relations with the sources of such reports, no matter where they come form and their motives," the statement says.

About SQUEEZETRIGGER.COM

WWW.SQUEEZETRIGGER.COM is a service designed to help bonafide shareholders of publicly traded US companies fight short selling. SqueezeTrigger.com has built a proprietary database that uses Threshold list feeds and short sale time and sale data from NASDAQ, AMEX and NYSE to generate detailed and useful information to combat the short selling problem. For the first time, actual trade by trade data is available to the public that shows the attempted size, actual size, price and average value of short sales in stocks that have been shorted. This information is valuable in determining the precise point at which short sellers go out-of-the-money and start losing on their short trades.

SQUEEZETRIGGER.COM has built a massive database that collects, analyzes and publishes a proprietary SqueezeTrigger for each stock that has been shorted. The SqueezeTrigger database of nearly 2.5 billion short sale transactions goes back to January 1, 2005 and calculates the exact price at which the Total Short Interest is short in each stock. This data was never before available prior to January 1, 2005 because the Self Regulatory Organizations (primary exchanges) guarded it aggressively. After the SEC passed Regulation SHO, exchanges were forced to allow data processors like SqueezeTrigger.com to access the data.

The SqueezeTrigger database collects individual short trade data on over 7,000 NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ stocks and general short trade data on nearly 8,000 OTCBB and PINKSHEET stocks. Each month the database grows by approximately 50,000,000 short sale transactions and provides investors with the knowledge necessary to time when to buy and sell stocks with outstanding short positions. By tracking the size and price of each montha'a"s short transactions, SQUEEZETRIGGER.COM provides institutions, traders, analysts, journalists and individual investors the exact price point where short sellers start losing money and a short squeeze can begin.

Purple(TM) Enhances P3(TM) Communications Application, Optimizing Caller Experience; New Customer-Inspired Features Provide Easy, Personal, Anywhere Connections for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

ROCKLIN, Calif., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Purple Communications(TM), Inc. (Pink Sheets: PRPL), a leading provider of text and video relay and on-site interpreting services, today announced a new version of P3, the company's software communication suite designed for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Building on the P3 software's core communication capabilities, including video relay service (VRS), IP-Relay, and direct video ("point-to-point") communication, the latest version adds new features most requested by Purple's customers, including more call notification options, Purple Mail video messaging, and an improved contact list.

"Today Purple Communications is focused on designing products that fully meet the needs of our customers," said Ronald E. Obray, Vice Chairman. "Our P3 application is a prime example of a product built 100% on feedback we received from the deaf and hard of hearing community."

P3 Software Keeps You Connected Your Way

The latest version of the P3 communication software adds three primary features, including Purple Mail(TM), new on-screen and external call notification options, and a completely redesigned contact list. It also includes dozens of "under the hood" updates that improve picture quality, performance, and stability.

Purple Mail. When a P3 software user misses a call, callers can now leave a video message called Purple Mail. Users can view Purple Mail messages with just a few clicks, right inside the P3 application.

New Call Notification Options. P3 software can now notify users when there's an incoming call, even when the users aren't actively using the P3 application. When a call comes in, the P3 software alerts users by flashing their PC screen. For a stronger alert, users can attach an external light signaler, which flashes when there's an incoming call.

Improved Contact List. Users can now add and update contact entries in their contact list, while still benefiting from the P3's software's special, one-click calling.

Sharper Video, Same Great Interpreting. Other enhancements ensure users experience the sharpest picture possible, while still getting quick, easy access to Purple's industry leading interpreters.

Pricing, Availability, System Requirements

Beginning today, users can download the latest version of P3 software for free by visiting www.purple.us . Existing users of P3 software will receive the free update automatically when they next sign in to the P3 application.

P3 software requires a PC with Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, and a webcam.

Users can learn more about the P3 software and download the application for free at www.purple.us.
